Trust & Transparency

Editorial Standards

How we report, label, update and correct our journalism.

Accuracy first

We distinguish verified facts, analysis and opinion. Material claims should be supported by attributable sources, public records, direct reporting or clearly identified evidence.

Transparent labels

Breaking, Developing, Live, Analysis, Opinion, Explainer, Investigation, Review, Interview and Sponsored content use distinct labels so readers know what they are reading.

Corrections

When a material error is confirmed, we correct the article and preserve an appropriate correction note. Small spelling or formatting fixes may be made without a formal note.

Sources and attribution

Anonymous sourcing should be used only when the information is important, cannot reasonably be obtained on the record and the source is in a position to know it.

Images and media

Images should include accurate alt text and, when available, captions and credits. Illustrations or generated visuals should not be presented as documentary photography.
